The GenCon info keeps on coming...

Thanks muchly to the folks on maxminis and the Wizards boards for sharing this with us.

1. There will be a map with a wizards lab and a map with another that both add bonuses to summoning if the summoner is in the room.

2. There are maps with teleportation spaces on them... still not sure how they will work though.

3. One big question that I asked and loved the answer to was: Will we see swarm bases anytime soon, as the Aracnomancer (female Drow with lots of spiders) can summon spiders and we only have one as of right now (they mentioned her summon ability)? ANSWER: Yes. They try to make sure that if a figure has an abilty to summon or add minions the figures are in the set, but they sometimes do not make the cut art wise. So we should see some spiders in this set, maybe a swarm base of spiders as well.

4. Wardrums we will get our first siege weapon called an Arcane Ballista. It is a construct siege weapon and the first of its kind. They would not go into detail about others though.

5. Someone, Jesse maybe, asked about outdoor maps coming out, not just dungeon. They said "oh like the ruined castle..." and then stopped and said "yes there will be some out door maps."

For the outdoor maps I asked whether or not fliers would be able to go over walls or not. Right now, fliers are still skimming the surface. They have given the problem some thought but have yet to find a solution they like which would allow fliers to fly over terrain.

For each set they typically have 75-80 figures spec'd out. When the final day comes to determine what goes in the set a lot of factors come into play including the final paints and molding process, etc. Some of the figures just can't be made to work easily enough and they are scrapped, letting less desirables into the mix. The Wrackspawn concept had a backstory (and a relatively cool one) and made it through the reviews although low on the chain. When the time came to complete the set list too many things in front of that figure had production issues so the Wrackspawn made it.

When I asked about an outdoor map he mentioned a crashed airship site.

Another point that was driven home via 3 questions.

Don't expect to see revised/errat'd stat cards for any exisitng figures.

Several lines of questions regarding the banning of the drider, and errata were asked.

Despite each attempt to get R&D to go along with a reprinted card idea, they wouldn't budge. They feel that there will be to much confusion as to what card is legal, or what card is being played (if both are legal).

I don't think we will see any errata (i.e. blue wyrmling and immune electricity), or revised stats (Drider) being issued.

I asked a question about the design process, specifically regarding the change in the Victory Points for summons.

I had advocated that the VP's for the minions/summons be counted, but then subtracted from the commander/summoner. R&D thought about this to, and agreed that it may be better, but in the end, they are going to default to solutions that are simple, and easy to keep track of.

That said, Shoe did mention something about taking a long look at providing the right point cost of summoners with the exisitng rule (correct me if I'm wrong, but no new summoners have been released since the rule change, aparently new ones are in the works, and will now be more aggressively costed).

The Wrackspawn will appear in an upcoming RPG supplement if that is worth anything to people.

Epic Cards for previously released figures would be the new prize, replacing tiles. There would still be repaints. I believe that the target date for this change was around January as they would have enough maps out but someone else may correct me.
Comments:
Grim Necromancer summons 2 undead of up to 20 points. Also, this is obvious and in recent memory, Orog Warlord has 2 minions as well.

Both figures affected by the summoning/minion changes have been released, but both were likely in-process or past changability when the rules changes occured.
