I personally don't think that the Village Priest's Commander ability would apply to the Bodyguard. It's a different word than "guard".
I've sent in a request to wotc to clarify this, and the response was "since it's not officially released yet, they cannot comment. Please resend your question after next Friday." (Today is Fri., Feb 24)
I can't argue with that, and fully intend to resend the question.
