Set 9: Dreadnought!

An Anonymous source has told me that the playtesting name for Set 9 of the D&D Miniatures game is Dreadnought - it will be the second set with Huge miniatures. As with Set 8 (Underdark), there will be a selection of figures which have two cards: one for standard play and one for Epic play.

Fan favourites such as the Aspect of Tiamat are planned for the set, along with the Juggernaut from Monster Manual II.

The rarity scheme will (unfortunately) have both uncommon and rare huge figures - although the ratio will be 2:1 rather than the 3:1 of Giants of Legend. (9 uncommon huge figures and 6 rare huge figures - 24 boosters would give you 1 of each huge rare and 2 of each huge uncommon, on average).

It is also planned to introduce the first ultrarare in this set - although that is not yet set in stone. My source told me that the only way this figure could be created is if it was extremely limited, as it will be the most expensive figure of a non-Colossal size to make - frustratingly, I wasn't able to discover what it was. The only hint I got was that it'd be from a 2e setting no longer directly supported by Wizards.

Latest update: The mysterious "ultra-rare" will be nothing less than the Giant Space Hamster of the Spelljammer setting!

Wizards' First Rule: People can be made to believe any lie because they want to believe it is true, or because they are afraid that it is true. Happy April 1st!

Nice try. I have a calendar and I know how to use it.

Happy April Fools...Space Hamster my A**

Dang, I was looking forward to a giant hedgehog. Maybe next time.

April Fool's Day is, and its adherents are, profoundly stupid. Which is interesting because the people who do April Fool's jokes must be of such intellectual persuasion, thus making their jokes QUITE transparent.

Wow. You're really pretentious. I myself thought it was hilarous :)

Hee hee. Good one. Just a question: Is the whole newsflash about set 9 a hoax or only the part about ultra-rare?
