Even more GenCon reports...

From Lalato:
-Celestial Badger
-Trumpet Archon... will have an "interesting" commander effect
-Mummy Lord (yes, that's right Lawful Evil gets some love)
-Mantis (this is the first fig where the skirmish stats will be more powerful than the rpg stats... they had to do that because otherwise it would have been a low point large rare fig).
-There will be two large uncommons in a future set... and one of them will be a Bear.
-Beholder will be in Death Knell for sure. It will be playable in 200 point.
-There will be a future set in which CE will have the fewest figures of all the factions. Finally!
-The designers admit that Orc Champion is perhaps a little broken, but there will apparently be an LG fig that makes the Orc Champion suck in a future set.
-The Monster Manual III has many non-CE creatures in it. Expect to see some of those turned into minis.
-No more "Difficult" creatures!!! However, the ones that are currently difficult will remain so until there are figures that can control them.
-There will be a 4 point fig for CG in Aberrations that will give CG a good low point filler fig. There will also be a better 3 point fig for CG in Death Knell.
- There will never be a modron in any future set... (unless, of course, doubtofbuddha wins nationals... which really means that the designers have probably contracted a hit on him sometime before the next qualifier).

From Mixilpidilstick:
I played a D&D demo game at GENCON today. I was a Barbarian Shifter. They had an new mini for it: #19/60 Longtooth Barbarian, Uncommon, CG 27.

From Talinthas:
The Dragonlance miniature in Aberrations is Mina (of the War of Souls). Margaret Weis saw the mini and said it was really cool, and that's good enough for me.

From PatEllis:
There was a conversation I was a part of with Mike Donais that was talking about development of the figures, and I asked if they had considered creating a Gwenyvier (I'm sure I spelled that wrong...) (black panther) figure for Drizz't to have as a minion. I was surprised when Mike said "yes, we designed her, and we have her stats in the database, she'll probably appear at some point as an iconic cat with abilities that are buffed when with drizz't (i.e. beyond just Drizz't command efect with Iconics). He then said that she'd probably be a large figure.

I asked Mike Donais point blank: "Did Giants of Legend do well enough for WotC to do another set with Huge's?"

Mike's answer: Yes, but they haven't started design. They want to make sure that the next huge set works better with Organized play. I then followed up with questions about improving the distribution of the Huge figures, suggesting 6 rares and 9 uncommons... Mike just nodded and didn't say what they would do but said " we've been listening to what people have had to say and we WILL do something different to improve things..."
Comments:
Hi Merric,
thanks for posting my comments, but my nickname is spelled Lalato. I know it's difficult to see that when spelled in lower case. :)

Thanks again,
