Huge Red Dragon now $75
From the Wizards site:
Dear Gamers:
As we kick off our Year of Dragons celebration, I have some exciting news to share. I’ve just seen the finished, painted sculpture of the new Dungeons & Dragons Icon: Colossal Red Dragon, which will be released this September. It is truly the most extraordinary dragon—most extraordinary collectable D&D figure—we have ever created.
During development, the sculpture turned out so spectacular that we decided to really take it to the next level. The Colossal Red Dragon has more than 300 paint steps—that’s over twice what we've applied to any single figure—which provides unparalleled color and texture to accentuate the intricate details of the sculpture. Indeed, it has far surpassed our expectations. As a result of these developmental enhancements (believe me, we’ve pulled out all the stops), we have reset the MSRP at $74.99. One look and I’m sure you’ll agree that it is destined to become the jewel in your D&D collection. Come see it for yourself. The paint master will be available for public viewing at Winter Fantasy and GTS.
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. The D&D celebration is just getting started!
Keep on gaming!

There goes my dreams of a colossal red dragon army!
Seriously, this stinks. I 'll have an extremely hard time shelling out $75 for any miniature, regardless of how many paint-strokes are on it. Can I get 150 stroke model for 1/2 price???

Wow im impressed, 300 paint steps, WOW, done in a Chinese assembly line, by people who are paid pennies. Im pretty sure we will get the "great" paint quality weve seen up to now in normal miniatures.
These people are insane charging 75 dollar for a dragon miniature made of plastic, and to top it off poorly painted. Because I sincerely doubt that they will hire profesional painters for those miniatures. They will just make more money out of it, because let me assure you they must already have an incredible profit selling them at 50 bucks.
Well the best of luck selling them.

The problem is they will sell them, because there are gamers and hypes that just have to have it. If the D&D gaming community and D&D miniture community boycotted the purchase of them that high the price would drop, just like the package price, but I doubt there are enough people will to say no "I won't buy it"
I wonder how this 75.00 collosal dragon will stand up against the masterfully painted 16.00 Tod Mcfarlain dragons...
