GenCon updates

Well, GenCon 2005 has started, and you know where the best place to find out what's happening there is?

Not here. :-)

I'll try and look in when I can, but I've a busy weekend in front of me - not at GenCon, alas! - and Kevin Tatroe at Hordelings.com seems to have everything well in hand. No need for me to do much more but point you at the relevant sections:

* The GenCon Gallery - pics from hordelings and maxminis members
* News from GenCon - Kevin's list of DDM information conveyed to him.

Kevin posted in the latter thread:

The DDM Seminar just ended, and I just got off the phone with sienar (with Chris Groves in the background), and here’s some scoop for y’all:

* Kiddoc’s mini is Rikka, Angelic Avenger (#23/60, Chaotic Good, 31 and 143 points) and is, from all accounts, “HOT!”. They did not have a stat card with them, so I guess we’re talking salaciously.

* The Wardrums Starter set has a Wood Elf Ranger and an Orc Mauler on the cover—and all starters are guaranteed to come with a commander. The booster they had on display showed a Warpriest of Moradin and an Arcane Ballista. Yes, the Ballista is what it sounds like.

* A few peeks at Underdark—in addition to the Dark Naga promo, they confirmed a Xorn, a X’endrick Champion (another Scorpion Clan Drow), and that the drow on the booster art is a Drow Arachnomancer, which has the ability to summon spiders.

Other tidbits:

* There was also talk of a Fiendish Half-Ogre.

* There is a figure with flamestrike, and

* Elminster costs “between 100 and 102 points”... at least, the non-epic version. Finally, “swarms are coming soon”.

* Starting around January, Retailer Kits will no longer ship with tiles. Instead, they will contain Epic stat cards for older figures.

* There will also be a new Triad—keeping Assault, but adding two new formats.

* It sounds like the Extreme format is changing its name to Epic, and

* There are nascent plans for an Epic Championship to complement the Constructed and Limited Championships.
