Rules clarification on map use:
Posted by Stephen Schubert on wizards boards:
So that everyone is on the same page (about the Fane of the Drow map to be used at GenCon):
1 - Areas marked Victory Areas (A or B) are the spaces that units can occupy for "tile points" in assault. The group that starts in Start A uses the Victory A locations, and Start B uses Victory B. Victory areas are also considered "feature tiles" for Wandering Monsters and Scouts. None of these victory areas are marked "Cave", so Cave Setup is not available on this map. Victory Areas are the entire region bounded by walls and dashed lines.
2 - A player can start in any start area marked for his side. This means that the Start A player could in fact split his forces at setup, into 2 different rooms.
3 - For the D&D miniatures game, the doors on the map are purely flavor, and are treated as open. (ignore the doors, essentially)
And the map is only 21x30 - the reference on the page is incorrect.![]()
