Gorgonzola/CheezeCon 05 - a tournament with a difference

I received a rather unusual notice from Craig Wyton of an upcoming tournament today.

Thought you might like to put this up for a laugh. My club holds an annual wargames tournament we call Cheezecon, which is partly a parody of "real" tournaments in that we send them up in a sense. But the main aim was to produce a tournament that the average player could win (ie you don't have to be a rules lawyer or argumentative SoB to prosper).

This year we are including D&D miniatures as one of the games, and have come up with some rules to encourage armies that would not normally be seen at tournaments.

Hope you get a laugh out of it! I'd love to see these style tournaments happening around the world.

You can find the tournament format/notice here: Gorgonzola at CheezeCon '05

That is awesome! Wish I was able to go!

I know what I would play. 6x Ogre Ravagers for 228 points, just missing that 1/2 point. But i would get Rare cheese, big Hitter Cheese, Master Cheese Part 1 & 2, Homogenous Cheese a & b and the "We don't need no stinking commander" for a total bonus points of 50! Can you do better?

I suppose the only way you could beat the 6xOgre Ravagers would be to play 57xDire Rats. Then you could try to claim both the 'no commanders' bonus, and the 'all commanders' bonus at the same time ... to give you 60 bonus points. : )

Other than that, 50 can't be beat.

Actually - the normal number of figures you can take still applies so you only want the legal army limit of 12 dire rats. You get the 60 bonus points, and at 48 points for your army you can possibly win plunder in the second turn (2 tile + 3 tiles occupied) and are almost guaranteed a "turtle" bonus (games decided by < 50 points. Of course if you enter the tournament as Terry-Real first name you will get an extra 10 points. (Terry FYI is the local champion who has won about 9/10 tournaments where coming first is important.)
